At first I couldn’t be bothered with all the social media. I thought to myself, linked into what? Why twit? Really…who would listen to me instead of Ashton Kutcher! But then I had a “flicker” of a thought…I can decorate your blog cabin!
Social media seemed complicated-but exciting. I have always wanted to discuss my profession in a new way… the internet seemed the perfect place to start my new “dia-blog”.
Having been an interior designer for many years I have watched a multitude of trends come and go. Tedious and time consuming product catalogue searches have morphed into internet searches with the touch of a key. Fifteen years ago people asked if I had a fax machine…today I charge 5 devices before I go to bed. Message pads are a thing of the past…I- Pads are it. Social media and all its advantages are here to stay…even the Queen of England has her own You Tube channel. The President of the United States spends as much time with twitter as he does with his cabinet. A movie about Facebook was just #1 at the box office. I think it’s safe to say that it seems to be worth all the fuss!
Social media outlets are powerful tools to embrace. What an opportunity for people to take advantage of the knowledge and experience of a professional in such an exciting field.
So, join me in my blog and please, please…”like” my Facebook. Follow my tweets and take this journey with me around the world of interior design through my eyes.
The goal for my everyday blog will be a light hearted, informative… perhaps rule breaking look at interior design. You can expect anything from tips about interior design, fabulous finds, incredible sales, discoveries from the design centers, parties I host or attend, and of course the most exciting trends.
I love feedback, so don’t hesitate to start a conversation. I want it to be an enjoyable and helpful chat for all of us and hopefully we can all benefit from the experience.
My next blog will cover a Design 101 topic… How do you choose an interior designer?
Please feel free to suggest our next topic of conversation!
